![]() ![]() ![]() Perhaps this is because 2 years is a lifetime as a teenager, and they were abnormally young for exploding musicians. It’s surprising how much of a step above I see RIOT! to AWKIF when it came out a mere 2 years after. The riffs hit harder, the instrumentation had gotten more complex, and the singing started to truly shine. The production was upgraded drastically, and is noticeable from the moment you step foot into this album. A prime example is found on my favorite of the whole album, “Fences”, which is intriguing not only instrumentally, but lyrically. This album saw a much wider range of sounds, and the bass even took the front seat on a few songs, a stark contrast from AWKIF. All of these songs hold up surprisingly well a full decade after the albums release, something that can not be said of much of the pop-punk scene. This album is where Paramore truly cemented their position as a top tier band of the 2000s. If you are an avid fan of 2000s pop-punk, there is no doubt that this album has plenty for you, but for me personally, it doesn’t do much.īest Songs: Fences, Misery Business, crushcrushcrush, Let The Flames Begin, That’s What You Get It was a fantastic start for a young band aspiring for greatness, but beyond that I don’t think it holds much. There isn’t anything offensively bad about this album by any means, but there isn’t a lot that particularly stands out.
